A lanyard badge holder is a small pouch or sleeve-type holder for a badge attached to a lanyard or neck strap. It allows the wearer to insert a badge or card inside, such as an ID card, in an ID lanyard badge holder. It is usually double-sided, transparent, waterproof, and dustproof.
A lanyard badge holder comes in different sizes and orientations, but a typical size would be 90-180 mm (3.5-7") for the long side and 60-120 mm (2.4-4.7") for the shorter side. The card size that each can accommodate will be less than these dimensions, so check the manufacturer's size sheet for the right size to buy. The lanyards, the part that attaches to the holder with a clip, come in various colours, allowing the buyer to choose freely. They are designed to be soft and tangle-free. They may also be water and fade-resistant. A typical lanyard length is 90-92 cm (35-36"). A lanyard badge holder is often made from transparent PVC; the clip may be aluminium, some other metal or plastic, and the lanyard is normally made of polyester. The clips or hooks used in lanyard badge holders also come in various types. Common ones are bulldog clip, swivel hook, canteen clip, carabiner, carabiner hook, oval hook, key clip, safety clip, and adjustable hooks.
Lanyard badge holders come in several types. While there are simple PVC types, there are also others to choose from. A more high-end or luxurious alternative to PVC is acrylic. It is good for a clear badge holder with lanyard because it won't scratch easily and will provide a crystal-clear view and a sleek and modern look. Otherwise, a PVC type is common and will still offer the benefits of protecting the badge from moisture and wear and tear. Another type is the retractable lanyard badge holder. It offers a more secure and convenient way to carry a badge. It has a retractable cord, allowing the badge to be extended. Doing so may be necessary to have the badge scanned or swiped without having to remove it.
Other types of lanyard badge holders include armband badge holders and credential wallets. The armband type attaches to the arm, making it useful in situations where the neck type would be inconvenient or even dangerous. Situations requiring a lot of physical movement can benefit from the armband type. The wallet type of lanyard badge holder is designed to hold an additional item, such as a pen or business card. Leather lanyard badge holders are made of leather and made to last. Additional customisation may be possible on the leather, such as an embedded logo.
A lanyard badge holder is worn around the neck and holds a badge, usually an ID card, but it also has other uses.
